Why I Never Target Octopus | Overfishing in Greece

In many areas of Greece, octopus populations are under increasing pressure from overfishing. For me, the choice is simple: I do not target octopus. If we want these animals to remain part of our seas in the future, we need to give local populations the chance to recover and reproduce. The pressure comes from several directions, including professional fishing, recreational fishing, octopus pots and traps, and predation from invasive species such as Lagocephalus sceleratus.
